I used strips of venison cut from a hind quarter. I prepared the mix according to directions except that I used 1 cup water and 1/2 cup soy sauce. Soaked meat in the brine for 12 hours in a large zip-lock bag in fridge. Dried it in smoker with side fire box for about 7 hours. Used a mix of real lump charcoal and hickory logs for the smoke. This had a very "off" flavor in my opinion, almost sour/vinegar tasting or something. I would have given it 1 star but considering I altered the instructions by adding soy sauce, I'm giving it the benefit of 3 stars. That aside, I always use soy sauce in my jerky and have never experienced this "off" taste.

Have been using this product for a very long time. Shared our Jerky with folks, they to have enjoyed every bite. It has just the right amount of peppered flavor we all enjoy. Thank You Con Yeager Spice for providing great customer service and great products.

Almost fool proof! Tastes great, easy to use, consistent product every time we've used it. I wish I could buy out of a store though, instead of having to order every time I want to make it. Love that it comes in packages to make 5 lbs of jerky at once, i don't have to use the whole kit at once. Wish it was a bit saltier though, we're going to take a small bit next time and add some seasoned salt to it and see how that turns out.

Venison is absolutely delicious using this jerky seasoning. It's just the right amount of hot and sweet. Just be prepared - everyone who tries it will want more!

I made the jerky per the instructions using ground meat and it turned out a pretty good. I tried to use the same mix with meat strips and it was too strong. I need to find the correct mixture and marinating time for 5lbs stripes.

Last year made 15lbs for thaks giving and christmas using venison it was all gone even family members who dont like venison ate it also 5lbs mix is just right i used to use 1lb mixes and it was a pain

best of all I have used. I cook it in a smoker and I think the smoke just tops it off GOOD STUFF

First, this jerky is easy to use. 1 1/2 C H2O, the cure and seasoning. Put it in a large ziplock bag, mix and include the meat. Very Easy.
Second, the taste isn't bad. Any uneven flavoring is due to the user mixing. Almost obscures deer meat which is a positive for those that refuse to eat deer.
It is well worth using.
